Every year in March, the McGill Alumni Association partners with McGill's Career Planning Service (CaPS) to host Backpack to Briefcase, a career-transition seminar series for students and young alumni.

Tue, March 16, 2010 6:30 PM Alumni presenter Samantha Bateman, BA'97, will lead a workshop on the importance of networking, using LinkedIn effectively, and positioning yourself for success by asking the right questions during interviews. Bateman is a talent acquisition and training consultant and the founder of Integria Consulting.

Tue, March 23, 2010 6:30 PM Research suggests that soft skills (personal traits and interpersonal abilities, such as communication, persuasion, curiosity, flexibility, motivation and initiative) are just as good an indicator of professional success as traditional job qualifications and credentials. This workshop will offer guidance and tips on developing the soft, people and social skills you need to build a thriving career.
5. Wed, March 31, 2010 6:30 PM Are you a recent grad living in Montreal who would like to network with other alumni? Come expand your circle of contacts by mingling with your fellow McGillians. This event, in collaboration with the Montreal Young Alumni, will be hosted by successful professionals from in and around the city. Bring your business cards!
