Biography: 

Dr. Peter Lakatos is a Professor of Medicine and has been the Director of the IBD Centre at »ÆÆ¬ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ, MUHC since 2017. Formerly, he was head of the gastroenterology/hepatology ward, endoscopy unit and outpatient clinic at the first Department of Medicine, Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. He is one of the founders and leader of the Hungarian IBD Study Group and President Elect of the Colon Section. He is member of educational committee in ECCO and an IOIBD member. He is a regular reviewer in leading international journals in gastroenterology/hepatology, a section editor for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and BMC Gastroenterology and an associate editor of the J Crohn’s Colitis and World Journal of Gastroenterology. During his career, he has published more than 280 original papers and reviews, including 26 book chapters. His primary research interests are the epidemiology and outcome of, and biomarkers in the prediction of disease progression and response to medical therapy for, IBD.

Current research: 

Dr. Lakatos' primary research interest is the epidemiology, outcome research, development of care pathways and quality indicators and complex prediction modelling (including biomarkers) of disease course and response to medical therapies in prediction of disease progression and response to medical therapy in inflammatory bowel diseases.
