The Department of Mining and Materials remembers passionate and inspiring contributor

Ophélie Gourgas (1991-2023) graduated with a PhD from the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at ��Ƭ��֦��Ƶ in 2019. She was passionate about science and research and made significant contributions to understanding the process of cardiovascular calcification and the causes behind a rare form of congenital skeletal deformity.
While working as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Medicine at Shriners Hospital, Ophélie passed away after a brave fight against an aggressive breast cancer.
