From 2010 to 2016 she lived in Dhaka\, Banglade sh\, where she held the position of senior social scientist at the icddr\, b\, a reputed international population health research center. She was als o involved in the founding of the BRAC James P. Grant School of Public Hea lth\, and its flagship Master of Public Health program\, and continues to serve as Professor and Advisor to its Center for Urban Equity and Health. A social scientist by training\, her current research interests span a ran ge of demand and supply-side challenges that impede equitable access to ur ban primary healthcare in low and middle-income countries\, and tackles th e challenges of community engagement and mobilizing evidence-informed acti on. Other research foci include adolescent health and nutrition and the so cial determinants of health including issues of gender\, social networks a nd place. She previously served as Executive Director of the Joint Learnin g Initiative on Children and HIV/AIDS\, a global research-to-policy collab oration involving international and bilateral agencies\, NGOs\, foundation s and northern and southern academic partners.
