The event will be moderated by Dr. Hannes Westerman n\, a postdoctoral researcher at »ÆÆ¬ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ Faculty of Law.\n\nAbst ract\n\nThis talk will discuss the impact of generative AI on the legal in dustry. It will include a description of what generative AI is\, how legal professionals can use it (and how they shouldn’t)\, and what it all means for the future of legal services. The talk will include a demonstration o f existing technology along with suggestions for how legal professionals a nd law schools should adapt.\n\nAbout the speaker\n\nAndrew Perlman is the dean of Suffolk University Law School and a recognized voice in the Unite d States on the future of legal education and law practice. Among other le adership roles\, he served as the chief reporter of the American Bar Assoc iation’s Commission on Ethics 20/20\, the vice chair of the ABA Commission on the Future of Legal Services\, and the inaugural chair of the ABA Cent er for Innovation. He is currently serving as a member of the advisory com mittee for the ABA Task Force on the Law and Artificial Intelligence.\n\nD ean Perlman’s scholarship has included numerous articles on professional r esponsibility and legal innovation that have appeared in some of the natio n’s leading law reviews. Dean Perlman has further served as a presenter or panelist at more than 100 academic\, judicial\, and other professional pr ograms in more than 20 U.S. jurisdictions\, three continents\, and six cou ntries. He clerked for a federal district court judge in Chicago and pract iced as a litigator there.
