 the Law” series\, with a lecture by Professor Afua Cooper (Dalhousie) in a
  plenary class of the LAWG 220 Property / Les biens courses.\n\nAbout the 
 speaker\n\nA faculty member of the Department of Sociology and Social Anth
 ropology of Dalhousie University\, Professor Afua Cooper is the Chair of t
 he Scholarly Panel on Lord Dalhousie's Relationship to Race and Slavery an
 d co-author of the Report. She is also the former James Robinson Johnston 
 Chair in Black Canadian Studies.\n\nHer research interests are African Can
 adian studies\, with specific regard to the period of enslavement and eman
 cipation in 18th and 19th century Canada and the Black Atlantic\; African-
 Nova Scotian history\; political consciousness\; community building and cu
 lture\; slavery’s aftermath\; Black youth studies.\n\nDr. Cooper founded t
 he Black Canadian Studies Association\, which she currently chairs. She re
 cently wrote and performed: '15 Ships to Sierra Leone' Black Halifax: Stor
 ies from Here.\n\nThis lecture is co-sponsored by the Labour Law and Devel
