DESCRIPTION:The proliferation of military activities in outer space\, evide
 nced by the surge in anti-satellite weapon testing and the augmentation an
 d integration of space-based defense capabilities of many space-faring Sta
 tes in recent years\, is increasingly becoming a threat not only to intern
 ational peace and security but also to the sustainable utilisation of oute
 r space.\n\nIn this context\, the webinar will discuss the prospects of ex
 panding and clarifying the existing international law for restraining the 
 militarization and weaponization of outer space.\n\nThe webinar will open 
 with two brief presentations—first\, on a possible Optional Protocol to th
 e Outer Space Treaty by Amb. Paul Meyer\, and second\, on the efforts of t
 he McGill-led international effort\, the McGill Manual on International La
