Indigenous Day at the Botanical Gardens with MORSL

Celebrate Intl. Day of the World’s Indigenous People with MORSL as we visit Montreal's Botanical Gardens. We'll attend their featuring poetry readings, storytelling, legends, and a screening of a short film on the need to preserve Aboriginal languages. You may also visit the First Nations Garden.

Cost: $14.25 with student ID, or free outdoor access with or garden membership

Agenda:

11:45 AM: Gather at MORSL for a picnic lunch in Rutherford Park (across the street from our building). MORSLÌý

12:30 PM: Depart the park on foot to the green line (Peel station) taking the metro to the gardens and the event.

1:00 - 3:00 PM:ÌýArrival at 1pm to get tickets and proceed to Indigenous Day activities at the Botanical Gardens. Note that the event at the gardens runs 1-6pm, but we will part ways at 3pm to allow for free exploration.

3:00 - 6:00 PM (optional):Ìý Free time at the garden to explore other activities that are part of the International Indigenous Day event, or explore other parts of the garden on your own.

Please bring a lunch as well as your STM card, student ID and payment for access to the gardens ($14.25 for students 18+ with a student ID card). If you have an , bring it because it will grant you free admission to the outdoor part of the gardens.

Teaching and Learning Services acknowledges and thanks the diverse Indigenous peoples whose footsteps mark this territory on which peoples of the world now gather. This land acknowledgement is shared as a starting point to provide context for further learning and action.
