Service Eligibility

Who has access to our services? The eligibility requirements depend on your student status.

Undergraduate and Graduate Degree Students

All full-time, part-time, visiting, and exchange degree students at McGill are eligible to use all of our services, including , free of charge.

If you are not currently enrolled, or are planning to transition in or out of studies, please visit the Student Services Fee website for information on services available to you.

School of Continuing Studies Students

Continuing Studies students who wish to access CaPS services may opt-in to Student Services (as a package) if they are registered for 9 credits or more in the current term. For more information on how to opt-in and pay the fee: Student Services Fee

Students in some SCS programs also have free access to the careers and engagement portal while they are enrolled and for 18 months after their SCS enrollment ends.

Post-Doctoral Fellows

All post-doctoral fellows are eligible to use all of our services, including the careers and engagement portal, free of charge only while you are enrolled at McGill.

McGill Alumni

  • For one year after graduation: Alumni have access to most of our services free for up to one year after graduation. They also retain access to search jobs, book appointments, and attend career events through the career and engagement portal.
  • For five years after graduation: Alumni retain access to the General Jobs board in for five years after graduation. Visit the page for additional information.

Other employment centres

The following organizations outside McGill also provide employment services similar to CaPS.


  • This is an English-language service provider that has been helping Quebecers find employment and start their own businesses.  Services include: workshops and consultation to young adults (ages 16-35), entrepreneurs and artists.

  • This site allows you to locate employment centres near you.  There are 150+ CLEs and service points located throughout the 17 regions of Québec.
