How to Book an Appointment

Current Cognitive Science Students

For students who have declared the Cognitive Science major or minor (or BA & Sc U0 students intending to declare cogsci)

  • 20 minute in-person and zoom advising appointments
    • In-person advising (20 min): Wednesday-FridayÌý - NEW OFFICE LOCATION starting Aug 13:
    • Zoom advising (20 min): Monday-Friday

  • Add/Drop Peak Period: advising AugÌý25-Sept 9, 2025ÌýÌý
    • Only 15 minute Zoom appointments are available during this peak period
    • Appointments only show up on the calendar 2 days ahead
    • If your questions are not related to fall course planning, then please wait and book a meeting after the add/drop period is over (Sept 10Ìý or later)

    • 5 minute Zoom Drop-in Advising:
      • These sessions are for quick questions, this is a good way to get quick answers instead of sending an email which will have a delayed response.
      • This is only for students that have already met with Liana in the past.Ìý
      • If you have never had a one on one advising appointment please DO NOT join the drop-in session.
      • The Ìýdates and times will be posted late August.Ìý
      • Students do not need to sign up ahead, simply join the waiting room and wait to be admitted.Ìý Students are admitted in the order they arrive.

*Appointments can only be booked 7 days in advance. If no appointments are available in the next 7 days it will appear to show no appointments for the entire month, but more will become available tomorrow.ÌýÌýThis changes to 2 day booking window during peak advising periods.

For students from other degrees that are interested in declaring Cognitive Science (major or minor)

  • Pre-registration Group advising sessions will be offered just before registration begins, usually in June.Ìý Ìý
  • Individual advising will be available throughout the summer, see info above to book an appointment.
  • Fall »ÆÆ¬ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ Student Orientation; a group orientation session will be offered end of August each year.

Non-McGill Students

For non-McGill students interested in applying to McGill, or for current applicants

  • Before requesting an appointment, please consult the Undergraduate Admissions requirements to ensure that you are eligible for the BA & Sc degree program.
  • All questions related to admission and applying to McGill should be directed to Admissions and cannot be answered by the Cognitive Science advisor.
  • If you'd like to make an appointment, please send an email to advisor.science [at] mcgill.ca . Include a list of questions you have about the Cognitive Science program. You'll be given a link to a Bookings page to schedule an appointment or you will receive a reply via email.
