Biography:

Stéphane Richard obtained his Ph.D. at »ÆƬÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵ and performed post-doctoral studies at Pfizer Inc. Groton, CT and at Washington University in St. Louis. He is now a full Professor at »ÆƬÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵ and a Senior Investigator and Associate Director at the Lady Davis Institute - Jewish General Hospital. Stéphane Richard is an international renowned molecular biologist and a world leader in basic research of »ÆƬÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵ binding proteins and protein arginine methylation. He is known for his ground-breaking work on the development of antibodies and pre-clinical animal models to characterize »ÆƬÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵ binding proteins and their methylation by arginine methylation. Using biochemical approaches and genetic mouse models, Dr. Richard has also linked »ÆƬÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵ binding proteins to osteoporosis, obesity, multiple sclerosis and cancer and most recently SARS-CoV-2 research. Dr. Richard is a leader in the field of arginine methylation where he identified the role of arginine methylation in »ÆƬÀóÖ¦ÊÓƵ metabolism and the DNA damage response pathway with implications for new cancer therapeutics, muscle stem cell therapeutics and anti-viral therapies for COVID-19. Author of over 150 publications, Dr. Richard is a recipient of a Distinguished James McGill Professor Chair and was a recipient of the prestigious CIHR Investigator and FRQS Chercheur-National Awards.
