How to reserve, pick up, and return your regalia:

STEP 1
Reserve your Regalia
Ìý

  • Regalia reservation will start on Monday, September 15 and end on Monday, September 29. The link will be posted here on September 15. Please refer to our FAQs for details about on site regalia reservation.Ìý
  • Graduates will not be able to cross the stage without regalia and their line-up card

  • To determine what regalia looks like for your degree, refer to the list here
  • The FallÌý2025 ceremonies will be ticketed events
  • Details about guest tickets and additional guest tickets, should any be available, will be updated shortly

STEP 2
Pick up your line-up card and regalia

  • Check the scheduleÌý(below these steps) to find out when you can pick up your line-up card, cap, gown, and hood (regalia). At the pick up location, you must go to the line-up card table before you proceed to the regalia pick up station.ÌýThe schedule is posted below.
  • You must bring:
    • Your McGill ID card (or any other government-issued photo ID)
    • A bag or garment bag and hanger to carry your regalia

  • If someone else is picking up your regalia and line-up card,Ìýyou must complete this 3rd Party Authorization form. They must provide government-issued photo ID at pick up

  • Review On Convocation Day to prepare for the event! IMPORTANT: You must arrive an hour and 15 minutes BEFORE the start of your ceremony, with your regalia,Ìýline-up card, and ticketÌýto line-up

STEP 3
Return your regalia
Ìý

  • Your cap*, gown, and hood must be returned at the pickup locationÌýaccording to the below schedule

  • You willÌýbe charged $210 for bachelors, $202 for masters, and $724 for doctoral regalia, plus taxes, if you do not return your regalia

  • Transcripts will not be issued until your regalia is returned or the fees are paid

  • *Note: PhD recipients must return their doctoral beefeaters (cap). Undergraduate and masters recipients may keep their mortarboard hats

IMPORTANT: you must pick up your regalia BEFORE your convocation ceremony. Graduates cannot cross the stage without their regalia.

Pickup Schedule

  • Pick up will only be available for you on the dates specified on this schedule (dates will be available shortly).ÌýPlease do not go to the pick up venue on any day that is not listed for your ceremony, as your line-up card and regalia will not be available.

Return Schedule

Your regalia must be returned in accordance with the above schedule. If you cannot return your regalia yourself, someone else can do it for you. Gaspard uses a barcode within the regalia to verify it has been returned, rather than the identification of the person returning it.

Line-up Card

The line-up card lists yourÌýpreferred name,Ìýdegree, and any honours you have been awarded. The information on the card will be read by the convocation orator as you cross the stage at the ceremony. Line-up cards are automatically generated for graduating students. They must be picked up prior to your convocation ceremony, according to the schedule.

Convocation awards and prizes will display in the Convocation program butÌýnotÌýon the line-up card. Convocation awards and prizes that have been approved by Senate also display on your transcript.

Convocation honours (e.g. Dean's Honour List, Distinction) willÌýbe read at the ceremony, will display on your line-up card but do not appear in the Convocation program. Honours also display on your transcript.Ìý

Guests

Fall 2025 Convocation is a ticketed event. Graduates will be allotted up to four (4) guest tickets. Additional tickets, should any be available dependent on venue capacity, will be available shortly before the Convocation ceremony. Details about guest tickets will be updated shortly. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The ceremonies are live-streamed so additional family and guests can watch from anywhere.

On the day of the ceremony, guests should plan to arrive early to enter the Convocation venue and take their seats. Graduands begin to enter the venue approximately 30 minutes before the ceremony begins, announcements and videos are played before the arrival of the platform party and the start of the ceremony.
