BIXI in Montreal

Riding a BIXI bike is a great way to commute to campus quickly and conveniently. The many docking stations around campus make it easy to leave your bike at the end of the ride; however, these can fill up during busy periods (e.g., mornings and between classes), so remember to leave time to search for an empty bike dock.Ìý

Note: Some stations may have moved since the making of this map. For most up-to-date locations, check the BIXI app. BIXIs are available in the winter, but some docking stations are unavailable.Ìý

Step-by-step guide to using BIXI

Download the BIXI app and purchase a pass.

  1. Find a docking station with an available bike. The lightning boltÌýunder the bike icon indicates that there are electric BIXIs available. Click on the icon to see how many bikes of each type are docked.Ìý

  2. Check the brakes and tires of your bike before riding. Adjust the height of the seat so that it rests around hip level. Remember to secure your items in the basket and put on your helmet.Ìý

  3. Scan the QR code on the bike. Sometimes you may need to turn on the flashlight or enter the Bike ID. If travelling with a friend, you can add a guest and pay for their ride as well.Ìý

  4. Once your bike is unlocked, the map on the BIXI app will indicate the number of empty docks at each station.Ìý

  5. At the end of your ride, push the bike hard into the dock. You should hear a sound played and the light on the dock should turn green. You will also receive a notification on your app letting you know that your bike was successfully returned.Ìý
