Announcing the 2025 Biodiversity Photo Contest!

Celebrate the beauty and diversity of life that surrounds us.

How to participate

Share your best photos taken on McGill campuses, field stations, or during McGill-related activities in one of the following categories:

  • McGill fauna: From babies to adults, large to small, share your best animal photos! 
  • McGill flora, fungi, and microorganisms: From micro to macro, local or exotic, show off your photos of mushrooms and fungus, plants, or microorganisms! 
  • McGill landscapes: This category can include anything from natural or urban settings, from the ground to the sky, or beautiful sceneries and exceptional backgrounds! 
  • Non-McGill: Open category for photos not taken at McGill or as part of McGill-related activities.   

You can submit up to four photos across the different categories.

How to submit a photo

  1. Visit to access the submission form.
  2. Upload your photo.
  3. Add a title for your image.
  4. Select the appropriate category: McGill fauna,ÌýMcGill flora, fungi, and microorganisms,ÌýMcGill landscapes,ÌýNon-McGill,
  5. Enter your name under Creator.
  6. Add a brief description (e.g., what is seen in the photo, where it was taken, or why it’s meaningful).
  7. Accept the Terms and Conditions.
  8. Click Save to complete your submission.

Eligibility

The contest is open to all members of the McGill community (students, staff, and faculty). 

Key dates

  • Submit up to 4 photos (one per category) by Sunday,ÌýSeptember 14 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Voting will take place between September 15–26 during the 2025 Biodiversity Festival
  • Winners will be announced on Monday,ÌýSeptember 29

Prizes

  • Category winners: Passport (for one person).
  • Runners-up: A pair of tickets to the .
  • There is a limit of one prize per participant.
