In this 4-hour workshop, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of high-throughput proteomics and protein analysis. Attendees will learn about high-throughput proteomic methodologies, data production, and formats. Combining structured modules and practical exercises, participants will learn how to apply theoretical concepts, conduct association studies with proteomics, and find genetic associations with protein levels.Ìý
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Differentiate between the two popular high throughput proteomic technologies (SomaLogic and OLink) and understand the differences between the two platforms.
2. Revise basic linear regression, an introduction to other types of models such as GAMs and LMMs, and will learn how to decide whether a model is appropriate.
3. Conduct hands-on quality control, generate some models to adequately reflect proteomic information, and derive basic analyses from the information.
4. Conduct protein GWAS and cis vs. trans pQTL analysis.ÌýÌý
Pre-requisites:
1. Basic understanding of R (the Intro to R by MiCM is sufficient) - with RStudio already installed.
2. A computer with a minimum of 2GB free disk space, running a current version of Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux.
3. Necessary packages installed.
